1.  Garden Centre Sales Assistant at Beechdale Garden Centre

 

Beechdale Garden Centre is one of the South East’s finest and largest garden centres. We are a family owned business which started trading in 1990 and has continued to grow steadily since.

Our highly trained and loyal staff have played a huge part in our success and popularity with our customers.

At Beechdale we are passionate about our business. We aim to provide quality products and service to our customers. Our plant quality is renowned throughout the South East and our qualified staff are always on hand to assist, advise and inspire the customer. 

At Beechdale we offer a greater selection of plants than is usually available in garden centres in Ireland. We have a good offering of garden furniture and BBQs. Since the Wildflower Café opened in March 2013 we have increased our selection of gift and household items.

In December 2014 we launched our e-commerce site allowing us to trade online and reach a wider customer base. We have a lot more planned for this in 2015.

 

Garden Centre Sales Assistant required

The successful candidate will be involved in merchandising and in sales. This position offers a wide variety of work. 

This work will include tasks such as:-

  • Potting on bare-rooted plants
  • Heeling in bare-rooted hedging
  • Checking in deliveries of plants and dry goods
  • Merchandising of plants and dry goods
  • Planning and building displays of produce for sale
  • Assembly of Furniture and BBQ’s
  • Washing, sweeping, power-washing and painting
  • Weeding, pruning and general plant and flowerbed maintenance
  • Assisting customers in selecting plants and products to fulfil their requirements
  • Serving customers at the till.
  • Giving group talks to, and/or writing articles for, customers on topics in your area of expertise to include in our How To articles on our beechdale.ie website or in newsletters

 

In carrying out the above duties the successful candidate needs to

  • Always be courteous to customers, service with a smile.
  • Be alert to customers in the garden centre, watching out for customers looking for assistance
  • Assist and advise customers on gardening questions they may have. (You won’t always have all the information to hand. In that situation you ask a work colleague or look it up for the customer.)
  • Provide additional information and guidance to customers in their choice of garden products.
  • Provide additional information with regard to the aftercare of products purchased.
  • Constantly increase your product knowledge to facilitate greater self-confidence as you endeavor to better serve our customers
  • Help to create a pleasant experience for our customers.
  • Develop ideas to grow and improve the customer experience.
  • Assist the team in their day-to-day duties, for the betterment of the Garden Centre as a whole.
  • Be alert and vigilant regarding duties needing attention, by you or others, to serve customers, or make the premises, pleasing and safe, for all visitors.
  • Help to keep a tidy Garden Centre, well maintained, with a full range of product presented to its best.
  • Give group talks to, and write articles for, customers on topics in your area of expertise.
  • Assist in the training of fellow staff members.
  • Be prepared to visit other retail outlets to keep abreast of retail trends

In a nutshell we want a sales assistant who takes pride in their work and goes the extra mile for their customers. 

 

The Requirements:

  • Sales experience with a proven track record
  • Horticulture training or experience
  • Friendly and courteous
  • Fluent in English
  • Customer focused
  • Self-starter capable of working on their own initiative
  • A team player
  • A willingness to learn and take part in training
  • Highly motivated

 

 

Desirable Skills or Experience:

  • Experience in using an EPOS system (beneficial)
  • A high level of computer literacy
  • A keen interest in social media 
  • Website management experience
  • Clean Full Driving Licence

 

Weekend work will be a requirement on a rota bases.

Garden Centre Office & Shop Assistant required

The successful candidate will be involved in Administration of the Garden Centre, Till Operation, merchandising and in sales. This position offers a wide variety of work. 

This work will include tasks such as:-

  • Serving customers at the till.
  • Working with our Administration team, 
  1. updating product database
  2. preparing and processing orders for shop and website
  3. checking in deliveries of plants and dry goods
  4. updating website content
  5. printing product labels and signage
  • Merchandising of goods in the shop, including planning and building displays
  • Keeping shop displays stocked up
  • Keeping the shop clean and tidy
