Mr. Fothergills €3.50
Onion Bonus F1
Botanical Name: Allium cepa
100 Seeds
Fast growing 'Spanish' variety producing high yields of uniform globes with excellent flavour.
The sweet, mild, less pungent flesh is extremely versatile and ideal for using raw or cooked.
Outdoors: Sow thinly March-April, where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared, well-dug, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30cm (1') between rows. Seedlings usually appear in 14-28 days. Thin plants to 23cm (9") apart. Transplant thinnings or use in salads. Or sow indoors, January-April, for larger bulbs, 0.5cm (¼") deep, in a tray of seed compost. Water well and maintain a temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F). Keep moist. Transplant, 5cm (2”) apart, to other trays when large enough to handle. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out 23cm (9") apart, during April-May. Harvest: August-September.
